Jan Willem is a PhD student at the University of Utrecht who visited the COALESCE Lab in 2023 for a period of three months. His background is in sociology (BSc) and applied statistics (MSc). His PhD project is embedded in the INCLUSIVITY ("Inclusivity norms to counter polarization in European societies") project, which is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. Within the work package Jan Willem and Eva Jaspers are involved in, they are studying how social norms can spread in a social network structure to affect affective and ideological polarization.
